Nuggets Fire George Karl

NBA Coach of the Year George Karl won't be returing to the Denver Nuggets this season, after being fired. Karl had lead the Nuggets to a 33-7 record over the last 40 games of the season, to earn the umber #3 spot, in the Western Conference Playoffs. The Nuggets ended up getting eliminated by the Golden State Warriors in the first round. Karl wanted to extend the final year of his contract in Denver, but the Nuggets denided it. Karl is one of the best coaches in the NBA and has had success with teams, like the Denver Nuggets. He has earned lots of respect from the Denver Nuggets and other coaches out their, that have seen him change the Nuggets into contenders in the Western Conference. The Nuggets now have no coach or GM and are awaiting for someone to take over. Karl has helped youngsters Ty Lawson, Kenneth Faried, whom hae been a big part of the Nuggets success. Karl is one of the best expirenced, successful coaches in the NBA. The Memphis Grizzlies are interested in Karl, depending on Lionel Hollins furute with the team. He could help make the Grizzlies even better, if Hollins leaves, but we will see who will swipe Karl off the Market first.

Brown Been Tearing It Up

Philadelphia Phillies Outfielder Dominic Brown was originally supposed to preform at a high level, when he got called up in 2010. He has had a sub-par/shaky 3 years in Philly so far and never hit more than 5 Home Runs and has batted no better than .250, in any of those seasons. This season Brown turned his game around big. It started to heat up in Mid/Late May. Brown nailed his 9th Home Run of the season, a 2 run shot. This had bumped his average to .300 and seemed to be the burst that Brown needed to start off his hot streak. Then in a 5 Game Strech from May 27th- May 31st, Brown hit 6 Homers, 9 RBI, 8 Hits, and scored 6 runs. Brown had beginning to get more confident at the plate, and his power surge would continue still today. Brown has hit 3 Homers, 8 RBI, 8 Hits, scored 5 runs, has an OPS of 1.405, and a batting average of .400 in June, so far. Brown has became a very popular fantasy addition to teams in recent weeks. Can Brown continue is slug fest streak?

Peavy Down 4-6 Weeks

The White Sox have lost a valuable starter in Jake Peavy, for 4 to 6 weeks, with a non-displaced rib fracture, on his left side. Hector Santiago will fill in for the injured Peavy, and will square off against A.J. Griffin, Sunday verses the A's. The injury started to get to Peavy as he allowed 6 runs on 7 hits, over 2 1/3 innings against the Mariners. The loss of Peavy will hurt the Sox rotation, but hopefully Santiago can step up and pitch well, during Peavy's absence.

Sox, M's Make History

Yesturday at Saefco Field, the White Sox and Mariners were held scoreless for 13 straight innings, but made one oout of two historical feats in the 9th inning. After a scoreless 9th, the White Sox and Mariners was the first game in Major League history, in which each team scored 5 plus runs in a game, that was scoreless through 9 innings. Starter Dylan Axelrod of the White Sox pitched 5 and 1//3 scorless innings, while Hisashi Iwakuma went 8 scoreless innings. Then until the 10 run explosion between both teams, in the 14th inning, the game remained scoreless. White Sox Outfielder Alex Rios started off the scoring in the Top of the 14th, with an RBI single. Then with the bases, with a 2-0 lead, in the Top of the 14th, with the bases loaded, Jeff Keppinger and Hector Gimenez hit a 2 run single and a 1 run double to make a 5-0 lead. Then with the bases loaded, down 5-1, the Mariners needed a huge spark from Third Basemen Kyle Seager. Seager just did that, as he hit his first career extra inning home run and grand slam. Addison Reed had not only given up a 5-0 lead, but also had a blown oppurtunity for a save. Then the White Sox attacked Mariners reliever Hector Noesi for 2 runs in the top of the 16th to finally defeat the Mariners. The White Sox needed needed 17 hits, eight pitchers, and more than 5 and 1/2 hours, to end their eight game losing streak. Alex Rios (8 At Bats), Alejandro De Aza (6 At Bats), Alexi Ramirez (8 At Bats), Paul Konerko (6 At Bats), Jeff Keppinger (7 At Bats), Gordon Beckham (7 At-Bats), and Hector Giminez (7 At-Bats), all had plenty At-Bats, which they took full advantage of in the 14th and 16 innings. Rios and Beckham each collected 4 hits in the victory. This game was very tiring for both teams, yet very exciting to watch in the final 3 innings.

Strasburg Placed On DL

Nationals Starting Pitcher Stephen Strasburg is getting shut down for a second time this season. This time though, he got placed on the 15 Day Disabled List, on Wednesday. Strasburg was unable to make bullpen session because of a strained muscle in his back. In the 3rd inning, Strasbug showed some signs of throwing issues against the Atlanta Braves. This is the 2nd pitcher the Nationals have put a starting pitcher, on the DL, this season. Ross Detwiler has been out since May 15th, with a strained oblique muscle. Strasbug is 3-5 with a 2.54 E.R.A. Who knows how Strasburg will feel by the time he comes off the DL. These injuries have cost Strasburg's season, but even if it's a slight strained muscle, he will need lots of time to heel it, in order to get back to 100%.
