Hamels signs big contract

Cole Hamels and the Phillies have agreed on the 2nd highest pitcher contract in the MLB. This is a 6 year $144M contract worth $24M each year till the contract expires. Only C.C. Sabathia's $161M contract was higher than Hamels.

Wandy headed to Bucs

The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez from the Houston Astros in exchange for a couple of prospects. The Pirates have added a great pitcher, with good stuff, that can help the Pirates chances of getting into the postseason. The loss of Rodriguez is devastating in Houston as the Astros continue to rebuild there team.

Rays acquire Ryan Roberts

The Tampa Bay Rays have acquired infielder Ryan Roberts from the Diamondbacks for minor league second baseman Tyler Bortnick. The addition of Roberts will provide great depth and a decent bat for the Rays.

Lopez headed to New Orleans in 3 team trade

The New Orleans Hornets have acquired center Brook Lopez and forward Hakim Warrick from the Phoenix Suns. The deal also includes Wesley Johnson and a 1st round pick from the Timberwolves to the Phoenix Suns. Then this sends guard Jerome Dyson to the Minnesota and then Brad Miller retired to free cap space for the Timberwolves. This must of been a confusing trade, but in the end it was finally offical. The addition of Brook Lopez to the Hornets will bring great size and skill to a such needy, talent team.

Panthers send Otah to New York

The Carolina Panthers have traded away injury-prone tackle Jeff Otah to the New York Jets for a draft pick. Otah started his first 2 seasons before getting banged up the past 2 seasons. Otah will now compete for the starting right tackle position with Wayne Hunter. The loss of Otah will hurt the Carolina O-line and the Jets a talented young player.

Tigers acquire Sanchez and Infante

The Detroit Tigers have acquired second baseman Omar Infante and starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez for pitcher Jacoub Turner and 2 prospects. This move has made the Tigers an even more dangerous team in the AL. Infante will improve a second base position in Detroit and Anibal Sanchez arm will help a Detroit rotation that has struggled recently. This is going to be difficult for the Marlins as they've just lost 2 impact players from there team.

Trumbo, Kimbrel and others avoiding sophmore jinx

Mark Trumbo and Craig Kimbril have avoided the sophmore jinx so far. While Trumbo has only gotten better, Kimbrel is the same way as he leads the NL with 25 saves. Jeremy Hellickson is another one that hasn't had a sophmore slump this season too. These players will try not to slump after the All Star break, where in year's past has ruined players.

Raptors sign offer sheet to Fields

The Toronto Raptors have signed an offer sheet to shooting guard Landry Fields. The contract is a 3 year $20M deal. This means that the New York Knicks will have 3 days to match Toronto's offer. The Knicks need Fields badly and are very interested in retaining him back.

Mavs sign Kaman

The Dallas Mavericks have signed free agent center Chris Kaman to a 1 year $8M contract. Kaman will provide a great post player and is excited, and ready to play with fellow teamate Dirk Nowitzki.
