Raiders Hire Greg Olson

Following a pass-attack year by Carson Palmer and the Raiders, the Raiders knew there was something going to be different about this offense, next season. That change would be back to what the Raiders used to have, power football. They did this by hiring Eric Olson as their new offensive coordinator. The hiring of Olson will help RB Darren McFadden devolp into a power running back next season. This season showed that McFadden wasn't the fit for running behind zone blocking schemes. Olson was previously the Detriot Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator. In two years with the Rams, Olson help devolp Steven Jackson as a power maching, running for over 1,000 yards in both seasons. He also helped LeGarrate Blount get his first ever 1,000 yard season, which was a big factor for the success of Josh Freeman's career best 95.9 passer raiting in 2010. Olson has also worked with Drew Brees (Purdue), Marc Bulger (Rams), and  Jeff Garcia (49ers). However, the biggest test for Olson is now devolp Darren McFadden as a better runner. When Hue Jackson coached the Raiders during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, McFadden thrived in his power running schemes. The hiring of Olson should help McFadden's career back on track and put Carson Palmer in a better position next season.
