Mets Add An Arm
Following the loss of Cy-Young Winner R.A. Dickey, via trade to the Tornoto Blue Jays, the Mets were searching for a starter to try to replace R.A. Dickey. They signed starter Shawn Marcum to a one year deal. Marcum is no R.A. Dickey, but he brings veteran leadership and will probably the team's number one starter this season. Marcum was bothered by elbow tightness last season, which had forced him out of action, for two months. He did have a solid 3.70 E.R.A. and had a 35.4% ground ball rate, in 124 innings. Marcum's speed has dipped the last few years, as he didn't even reach in the 90's. The elbow tightness was one reason Marcum was ineffective and the Mets will need to take expectional care of his arm, if Marcum will preform well this season. Marcum will have to lead a rotation that includes Dillion Gee, Johan Santana, and Matt Harvey. The additon of Marcum will help the Mets rotation decent, pending of how Marcum's elbow feels this upcoming season.
