Coming off a horrendous 6-10 season, the New York Jets began there rebuilding process by hiring Seattle Seahawks executive John Idzik as their new General Manager. Following an off-season in which the Jets brought in Tim Tebow as a "spark" to there offense, John Idzik looks to rebuild a offense that ranked 30th in total yards, 30th in passing offense, and 28th in scoring is going to be difficult. During John's two decades in the NFL, he helped build the 2002 Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, an NFC Championship in Arizona, and a Seattle team that barley missed the NFC Championship game this season. John shows he's had the expirence to build successful team's and has his hands full this off-season with New York. The reason why the Jets had added John was because he was a great leader, he's very smart in any aspect in orginization, and he can build a winning team. However, the Jets are reportedly $19.4M over the cap, and have guys like LaRon Landry, Brandon Moore, Shonn Greene, Dustin Keller, and Mike DeVito headed to free agency. They also have All-Pro CB Darrelle Revis until 2014 and shouldn't use the franchise tag on him, but who should they use it on? Also QB Mark Sanchez gets at least $8.25M guaranteed, which will be difficult to trade or release the dissapointing 2009 first rounder. The 2013 free agent list for QB include: QB Joe Flacco (UFA), Jason Campbell (UFA), and Brady Quinn (UFA) in this poor class of free agent QB for this offseason. I think John should franchise tag Greene (made $615,000 in 2012) because Joe McKnight will not get the job done. Getting back WR Santonio Holmes this offseason helps a lot, but they need to find a new TE for Keller.
