Cowboys Add Kiffin as DC
After firing defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, the Cowboys added Monte Kiffin to there staff, as the new defensive coordinator, for the Dallas Cowboys. Monte Kiffin will bring his Tampa Two to Dallas, to improve the play of there secondary. The Cowboys D was torched by opponents as they ranked 28th in tackeaways, 19th in yards allowed per game, and 22nd in Total QBR last season. They allowed RG3 to throw for 423 yards on Thanksgiving Day, Drew Brees torched them with 406 yards, Eli threw for 415 yards, Cutler passed for 389 yards, Matt Ryan threw for 312 yards, and Big Ben threw for 328 yards showed how poor the Cowboys secondary played last season. One reason whjy the Cowboys defense played so poorly was injuries. They lost a great linebacker in Sean Lee, Jay Ratliff for part of the season, and DE Kenyon Coleman were huge losses for the team's defense, during the season. When Kiffin coached in Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers ranked in the top ten in scoring defense in 11 of Kiffins 13 seasons with the team. The Bucs defense though is much better than this Dallas D today. They had Derrick Brooks, Simeon Rice, Warren Sapp, Ronde Barber, and John Lynch. Dallas has DeMarcus Ware, Sean Lee, Brandon Carr, and Jay Ratliff. This is a whole nother defense because the Cowboys play a 3-4 and the Bucs play a 4-3 defense. The Boys might also lose OLB Anthony Spencer, via free agency, which could hurt the team's pass rush. Monte Kiffin will have to adjust to the 3-4 defense or change the Cowboys to 4-3 to be successful in Big D.
