Cards Clear Some Cap
The Arizona Cardinals were about $750,000 over the cap and needed to get under, before the free agent period starts. They cut ties with cornerback William Gay and Linebacker Stewart Bradley to get under the cap. In 2011, the Cardinals had signed Bradley to a 5 year, $30M contract tp be their starting middle linebacker. That wouldn't be the case as Bradley never became the starter and registered only 15 tackles in 16 games last season. Last year, cornerback William Gay was signed to a 2 year, $4.95M deal to start opposite of Patrick Peterson. Even though Gay played productive throughout the season last year, the Cardinals couldn't afford him as they both parted ways. The loss of Gay's presence on the defense and Bradley's presence on Special Teams will be missed, but the Cardinals needed to get under the cap room.
