Sox, M's Make History

Yesturday at Saefco Field, the White Sox and Mariners were held scoreless for 13 straight innings, but made one oout of two historical feats in the 9th inning. After a scoreless 9th, the White Sox and Mariners was the first game in Major League history, in which each team scored 5 plus runs in a game, that was scoreless through 9 innings. Starter Dylan Axelrod of the White Sox pitched 5 and 1//3 scorless innings, while Hisashi Iwakuma went 8 scoreless innings. Then until the 10 run explosion between both teams, in the 14th inning, the game remained scoreless. White Sox Outfielder Alex Rios started off the scoring in the Top of the 14th, with an RBI single. Then with the bases, with a 2-0 lead, in the Top of the 14th, with the bases loaded, Jeff Keppinger and Hector Gimenez hit a 2 run single and a 1 run double to make a 5-0 lead. Then with the bases loaded, down 5-1, the Mariners needed a huge spark from Third Basemen Kyle Seager. Seager just did that, as he hit his first career extra inning home run and grand slam. Addison Reed had not only given up a 5-0 lead, but also had a blown oppurtunity for a save. Then the White Sox attacked Mariners reliever Hector Noesi for 2 runs in the top of the 16th to finally defeat the Mariners. The White Sox needed needed 17 hits, eight pitchers, and more than 5 and 1/2 hours, to end their eight game losing streak. Alex Rios (8 At Bats), Alejandro De Aza (6 At Bats), Alexi Ramirez (8 At Bats), Paul Konerko (6 At Bats), Jeff Keppinger (7 At Bats), Gordon Beckham (7 At-Bats), and Hector Giminez (7 At-Bats), all had plenty At-Bats, which they took full advantage of in the 14th and 16 innings. Rios and Beckham each collected 4 hits in the victory. This game was very tiring for both teams, yet very exciting to watch in the final 3 innings.
