Crain Gonna Be a Ray

Looking to clinch a playoff berth, the Tampa Bay Rays were in desperate need of a reliever. With Lefty Jake McGee and others struggling, the Rays needed a complement for setup man Joel Peralta. The Rays were lucky enough the find out that the White Sox had put Jesse Crain (0.74 E.R.A. in 38 games this season) on the market. The Rays immediately took action and picked up Crain from the Sox for a player to be named. Crain has a career 3.05 E.R.A., but has done exceptionally well for the struggling White Sox this season. He has posted E.R.A. of 2.62 and 2.44 the past 2 seasons. The Rays acquisition of Crain was a good one because he has a lifetime 17-9 record, with a 3.46 E.R.A. when playing in a dome, where Crain will play his home games for the Rays. His career E.R.A. in Tropicana Field is 2.53 in 20 games. Crain will pair with Joel Peralta as a setup man for Fernando Rodney. The A.L. East is gonna be a close one with Tampa, Boston, and Baltimore each fighting for a playoff spot and the division title.
