Ellis Headed To Dallas

The Dallas Mavericks have been trying to improve their backcourt through free agency. Last and only season's backcourt of Darren Collison (12.0 PPG, 5.1 ASPG) and O.J. Mayo (15.3 PPG, 4.4 ASPG) wasn't satisfying enough for the Mavericks. Therefore, Dallas signed Former Toronto Raptors Point Guard Jose Calderon to a 4 year, $29 Million Contract. Then they made their biggest move, by signing Shooting Guard Monta Ellis to a 3 year, $25 Million deal. Last season, Ellis averaged 19.2 Points, and 6 assists per game. Despite solid numbers, Ellis was a horrific 3-Point Shooter, shooting a dismil 28.7 percent (The lowest among eligable players). Calderon had the highest percentage at 46.1. Even though Ellis averaged 19.1 points per game, he shot a stumbling .416 Field Goal Percentage. Both Calderon and Ellis need to work on defense and be a more consistent shooter if they want to prove to Mark Cuban, that they will be the Mavericks future backcourt.
